I am so in love with this Christmas Gift Wrapping idea! It’s really easy to do, but has guaranteed WOW factor. Just my kind of project!

You might remember I did a floral gift wrapping blog earlier this year…it is still to date the most popular project I’ve ever shared. So when I was thinking about festive gift wrapping ideas, I really wanted to create a twist on the floral wrapping project. And I think this is a beautiful Christmas version!

The video below is a great place to start, because you can see just how easy this project is to create. I think it’s a good idea to do this wrapping relatively close to Christmas, but having said that the conifer foliage will probably last quite well if you want to make them ahead.

Ok so let’s get started! You only need a few supplies for this project.

You will need:

  1. Kraft paper: you can find this at most craft stores, it’s such a great supply to always have in your craft cupboard

  2. Clear tape: I used Scotch Gift Wrap Tape, which is nice and invisible on the paper. But any clear tape in your cupboard should be fine

  3. Black Pen: use a nice thin black pen, which you can sketch with easily

  4. Foliage: I went to my local florist and found the closest thing I could find to the look of a Christmas Tree. Ask for conifer or cyprus leaves.

Step One

Wrap your parcel in kraft paper. Then choose a sprig that fits nicely in the middle. Leave enough space to draw a basket at the bottom and a star at the top. I pulled off some leaves at the bottom to create a trunk.

Step Two:

While the sprig is on the package, use your pen to outline where the sides and bottom of the basket will be. Then take the sprig off and draw a basket.

I did a simple basket shape, then added lines to create texture. You can copy exactly what i did, or freestyle your own. Remember the rustic look is good, it shouldn’t be perfect!

Step Three:

Use clear tape to stick the tree onto the package. I stuck the trunk on first. Then I cut a couple of bits of tape in half width-wise (so they’re thin) and also taped a couple of points up the tree where there was space between the leaves.

Step Four:

Draw a star at the top of the tree. Once again you can totally copy mine, or draw whatever style star floats your boat!

Decorate the Tree if you want!

I loved the simple, stylish look of the trees as they were. But I also tried a couple of little decorating ideas, which turned out pretty cute too!

Bunting:

I used a piece of twine, and wrapped bits of washi tape over it at even intervals (the washi tape sticks together on each side). Then I cut the bits of washi tape into triangles. That made the bunting, which I attached to the tree with a hot glue gun.

Snow decorations:

I added tiny sprigs of gypsophila (baby’s breath) to the tree with a hot glue gun. So easy and cute!
